Brandy and I each have over a decade of experience in the fitness industry and are dedicated to helping you achieve your goals. Whether you're looking to lose weight, build muscle, or improve your overall health, we have the expertise to get you there.
At New Ulm Fitness, we believe that fitness is more than just exercise - it's about building a community. Our members are supportive and encouraging, and our coaches are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.
We understand that everyone's fitness journey is unique, which is why we will help you adjust each workout to fit your specific goals. Whether you prefer one-on-one training, group classes, nutritional coaching or a combination of those, we have a program that will work for you.
At New Ulm Fitness, we started our journey with a simple goal: to help people live healthier, happier lives. Since then, we've grown into a community of fitness enthusiasts who are passionate about sharing our love for fitness with others.
While fitness is important, knowing how food affects the mind and body is crucial to a healthy life. Our different levels of nutrition coaching are here to help you make small or big lifestyle changes to support your goals. We are realists and understand the importance of small steps!
We know how busy life can get and sometimes it is nice to make your own schedule. With personal training we can offer different time slots from class times and we can tailor an entire program specific to your goals!
At New Ulm Fitness, we understand that "new" can be scary! We want to make the lowest entry barrier possible which is what led to the introduction of our lite class. We have removed use of a barbell and modified training methods for everyone, even those coming to us with no training experience! These classes are open to all fitness levels.
We use biking, rowing, running, jump rope etc to work our Aerobic and Anaerobic systems. Aerobic workouts are unique for improving cardiovascular function and burning body fat. While Anaerobic will still do those two things, it differs in the fact that it can dramatically increase power, speed and strength at the same time. Anaerobic is our preferred method as you can increase your health markers and maintain the muscle you've already built!
Weight training at its simplest is being able to control any weighted object. We train this with medicine balls, kettlebells, dumbbells, bars, bumper plates etc. We train the standard powerlifting movements and olympic lifting movements with barbells, but have no fear, we have a barbell free option as well!
The beauty of this section is learning to control your own body-weight through multiple ranges of motion! Here we'll work on pulling, pushing, squatting, lunging etc. While moving weight is a display of power, being able to control your body is a display of coordination, balance, agility, accuracy and flexibility.
The best part of our training is that we mix all of these training methods in an endless combination of cycles to keep you making steady and maintainable progress! Functional fitness is training in a way that will improve our everyday lives by exercising movements that mimic daily life. A perfect example is the basic deadlift. In a deadlift we use proper mechanics to pick up a weighted object off the floor. Well, guess what picking up a laundry basket or a child, or a box off the floor is?? You guessed it, it's a deadlift!
One of my favorite parts of training athletes is teaching them how to move properly and with intention. Being able to move properly is a vital part of the aging process. Having mobility is part of what keeps us independent as we age. Mobility drills have a place at the beginning and end of every one of our classes and personal training sessions.
We are excited to have the opportunity to offer this amazing program, partnering with B the Light a local no profit, bi-annually that is set up for women at any point in their survivorship. The program is led by our co-owner and head coach Brandy Toomer, general surgeon/Yoga & balance instructor Dr. Corrine Jordan and the help of coach Randee Murphy. Together they provide strength, conditioning, mobility work as well as mindfulness and yoga work to help with balance, coordination, mental health and so much more. All while helping to form a community of STRONG women who support each other in their breast cancer journey and many years following.

At 40 years old and the fittest I've ever been in my life. I love competing, but being fit for life is my passion! I also love experimenting with different kinds of recovery methods and what helps different people recover the best so they can keep taking care of their body. I can't wait to share this knowledge with anyone who's willing to show up and do the work!
I have tried so many of the different fitness routines and "diets" out there, but it wasn't until I educated myself on what nutrition and fitness looked like from a longevity standpoint that it really started to change and I made sustainable progress. We have been through so many trials and errors over the last 13 years of this journey that we can relate to many of you going through those things right now! We understand how hard it is and how much bad information is out there. The best thing you can do is acknowledge those two things and find the right people to help you. We'd love to be those people, whether it be for fitness classes, one on one training, nutrition coaching or just general advice! Don't give up, we are here to help!!
My mission is to help individuals step out of their comfort zone and try new forms of fitness. My experience with CrossFit, bodybuilding, powerlifting, & a triathlon will ensure you that you create a new passion for whichever form you choose as well as eating healthy to fuel your body. I have spent the last decade immersing myself in the world of nutrition and the psychology behind it. This has become a passion of mine and I enjoy helping people understand how fitness, nutrition and proper recovery time can have drastic changes in our metabolic function and overall health. We want to help you become the best version of yourself, not someone else. We'd love for you to share your goals, passions, likes and dislikes with us so we can get the whole picture of what it will look like to get you to that point!
Prior to 2014, I was stuck in a routine of going to the fitness center and going through the motions, a little cardio here and some weight lifting there, never pushing myself physically. I was ready for a change. I joined New Ulm Fitness in 2014 and never have looked back.
Yes it was scary walking in that door, but it's always scary when you start something new. I found a fitness family that was so supportive and encouraging not only from the coaches but from every athlete there. I still remember my first goal when I started (one pullup) it seemed impossible at the time. Coach helped me set up a daily pullup program and within a short couple months it was achieved. I have enjoyed competing in several Crossfit competitions and competed in US Powerlifting meets.
I have loved my fitness journey with New Ulm Fitness and the way they have shaped me mentally physically and emotionally. I wanted to pass along my passion for fitness and the power of movement, and making healthier choices. In 2022 I obtained my Crossfit L1, and 2023 Crossfit Nutrition 1 Certificate. I have really enjoy my time helping coach breast cancer survivors, not only to make them stronger physically but to have a support system like no other.

Let's face it, the kitchen is the hardest part of making healthy choices! Let us take the guess work out for you! We offer personal guidance on a journey to find new and better ways to appropriately fuel your body for its daily needs while meeting personal goals. Our mission with our nutritional coaching is to educate our clients on good, better and best options while continuing to live your life to its fullest! ALL OF OUR NUTRITION COACHING STARTS WITH AN INTAKE FORM TO SEE IF WE ARE A GOOD FIT
If you aren't sure where to start, we can schedule an initial consultation that will be one hour. We will use this hour to establish where you are at, what your goals are and how we can help moving forward. You will have an intake form emailed to you ahead of this meeting that needs to be filled out and returned beforehand. This way we can make the most progress possible with our hour together!
This is the most comprehensive package we offer. We take all of the guess work out with this plan! It will include an onboarding process/initial consult, a custom built meal plan based on your daily life and preferences, an app on your phone to record your daily progress, weekly check-ins, and adjustments to the plan as needed.
This option is built more for those just looking to dip their toes into making some lifestyle changes and looking for a little guidance. You will get a one month meal plan that you can follow. This option does not come with all the extras of the personal coaching. The cost of this plan does not include an initial consultation. If you'd like the one hour session to discuss any and all things nutrition related, you can schedule that in addition to getting this plan.
You already have a workout regimen here or elsewhere and are just looking for some occasional tips, tricks and accountability. This will be your go-to plan. This consists of two 15 minute meetings per month to help with anything nutrition/health related.
